Dutch Oven Tripods Buyers’ Guide

What is the purpose of using a tripod for dutch oven cooking?

After a long day of hiking and camping, no one wants to come back to cold sandwiches or leftovers. Using a dutch oven and a tripod to prepare food while camping is the best way to enjoy a meal. With a tripod, you hang the pot full of food over the flame, so there is direct heat on the bottom, which will lead to indirect heat in the oven from the cast iron and the tight lid. Not only does it add to the convenience factor of camping, but it is also fun to sit around it and talk with friends when a fresh pot of stew is brewing over the fire. Dutch oven tripods are lightweight and compact, so you will have nothing to worry about when using it.

How to make a campfire tripod?

Start by selecting the best spot to set up your tripod, which will allow you to create a fire under it. Open the three legs and place them securely into the soil. Test it by shaking it around a bit to ensure that it will be able to hold the weight and stay in place. The leg with an open loop at the top should pass through the two other legs with holes at the top. Pass a hook through one of the holes at the top of the legs and pass a chain through it. Next, prepare the ingredients in the dutch oven and close the lid. Pass the lid wire through the base of the dutch oven and hang the pot onto the chain hook. If you want to adjust the height, you can easily pull it up by wrapping the chain around the hook a few more times. Set up a campfire under the pot, and your tripod is ready to use.
