How To Insert a Water Filter in Your Keurig Brewer
Keurig Water Filter Buyers’ Guide
The water filter on a Keurig is located inside the water reservoir, which is located on the left side of the coffee machine. By fully removing the reservoir’s top you will get full access to the water filter. You can change the water filter even if there is water in the reservoir already, or if it is empty. Make sure to always look at the Keurig water filter packaging carefully to be sure that you are using the correct filter for your coffee machine. If you use your Keurig coffee machine every day, then the water filter cartridge should be changed every 2 months to avoid malfunctions. If you don’t use your Keurig too frequently, then change the water filter after approximately 60 tank refills.
Start by removing the top of the water reservoir which is usually located on the left side of the machine and fully removing it will give you access to the water filter. You will see the handle of the filter sticking out, so grasp it firmly and pull it up and out of the reservoir. You may need to wiggle the filter-holder unit back into its place or pull it up in a short tugging motion to remove it. Open the removed water filter and throw out the used one. Use your fingers to pinch in the tabs at the bottom of the filter and pull downwards to loosen the lower filter holder and discard the old filter. Soak your new filter in water for 5 to 10 minutes before you install it. Then, rinse it for 1 minute and rinse the lower filter holder. Then slide in the new filter into its place and set the lower filter holder below it.
