Hamilton Beach Brands 14-Cup Rice Cooker Review

I’ve been waiting since I got home today
it’s 932 and I just got a UPS delivery
my new Hamilton Beach 14 or ice cooker I
was already just cleaning up from the
aroma beef stroganoff thingy that a
video that I did with my aroma now this
is I’m gonna tell you the last the last
the last aroma product that I buy this
piece of I just I hate them I know
that many people have I mean millions of
people have aroma rice cookers and they
love them they’re all idiots they’re the
most most what was that about missus
mother the most inconsistent I could do
three batches of rice and each one turn
out a different way so I just taught now
the Kenmore one is my absolute favorite
however Sears just discontinued it which
really sucks because I have because of
me Kenmore has sold like dozens and
dozens of those rice cookers because I I
take it with me when I go places because
it’s just digital rice cookers are such
like versatile cooking vessels I can’t
get to hotels with me I take it when I
go to people’s houses you know I’m not
that weird guy but I just do that
because I always keep it the trunk of my
car and so many people are like
impressed they go out to Sears and buy
one
well Thank You Sears for discontinuing
it but I happen to know that it’s
manufactured by Hamilton Beach so I’m
hoping that I’m gonna get by getting a
Hamilton Beach I’m going to get equal
results it’s better than that
thing I mean that friggin thing so
actually I do a lot of like dinner
parties and a lot of get-togethers and
like that and I set up buffets and
I have three Kenmore of the Kenmore rice
cookers and so it’s usually people see
those there and they start asking
questions about it you know and in my
videos or whatever so that’s is that
kook styrofoam now the Kenmore one is a
20 cup cooked rice this is a 14 cup so
this is considerably smaller however
this looks the interface the even the
design of the bezel on this looks
exactly like the Kenmore so I’m feeling
better and better about this even the
well that’s a little different this now
the thing about this is is this is
supposed to have an additional the
steamer basket also is has like thin
slats there so this is actually could be
used to rinse your rice too which is
cool because that’s kind of a pain in
your hands to have to have a separate
what do you call you know strainer thing
this feels very very similar to the the
Kenmore one this is supposed to be a
removable thing this is different than
the Kenmore but I think as the Kenmore
one’s bigger it’s so little and cute
like it’s cute I don’t know if this is
gonna be big enough but if I like this
and this works well if I get nostalgic
with this I will step up to the the 20
cup because I might need a bigger 20 cup
and keep in mind 20 cup is and by the
way let me just say this I always see
people like on their rice cooker videos
and like people make hummus about like
well it’s not really a cup of rice and
you have to do measurements and you
stick your finger in there and if it’s
above the thing there or you look on the
lines here it doesn’t matter how much
rice you put in here all you have to
remember is if it’s a clamshell design
like this and not the cheaper one with
the glass lid it doesn’t lose its steam
until the very end
it’s one to one ratio it’s one cup of
rice – 1 cup of water but it doesn’t
matter at what vessel you use to measure
it with as long as it’s equal parts
where if you’re making it on the stove
or with the glass thing it’s 2 to 1 so
people that complain about the rice
cooker make it like gummy rice that’s
because you’re putting too much water in
it’s only a one to one ratio that’s
number one at number two just like on
the stove do until it beeps do not lift
the lid up do not lift the lid up
because that makes the rice gummy leave
it alone don’t look at it don’t add
anything to it unless you have to leave
it the Freak alone and it won’t gummy up
on you so it doesn’t have a dedicated
brown rice button but I’m wondering if
that the whole grain is considered the
brown rice button but you see that it’s
got button for hot cereals I guess it’s
like oatmeal’s and stuff the Kenmore one
didn’t have that have that it just had a
steam slash pasta feature it had a brown
rice a white rice delayed timer which I
never used and uh just buttons head like
multi-functioning this one over here
this aroma and now this was a weird well
this was not a cheap aroma like aroma
has have them from like the digital ones
not the programmable ones they go
anywhere from you know like $25 to like
really expensive ones this one was like
an $80 $79 80 79 $89 this was not a
cheap model and for it to be so
inconsistent I don’t know if it’s
because it’s got one of the only ones
I’ve ever seen it’s got a a window here
but I liked the design of this one and
this is supposed to be the pot comes out
it’s got handles on the side and it’s
got a steamer basket just like the other
ones and it’s actually has like a
separate lid I liked it because I liked
the window but of course it doesn’t do
you any good when the condensation
steams up in the first two minutes of
cooking or whatever and it has this
handle to carry it like this so I
thought that this would be great I’m
glad I only bought one because I was
going to buy a couple to use for like
buffets no no no I mean I’m not gonna
get rid of it but you know have it just
as a backup or for other things but cuz
I do multi things but no hopefully this
guy is gonna be the firt you know but I
probably am gonna if I like this one
I’ll give this one a couple weeks if I
like this one and I abused it then I’ll
probably step up to the 20 cup I think
it goes up to a 20 cup or somewhere
around there
I know the camera was a 20 Cup they did
jump up in price though it went from
this was 40
this was $39.99 at Sears calm it was 43
something on Amazon but then the very
next one up was 99.99 at both Sears calm
and Amazon so I thought well let me just
see if this is anything like you know
whatever but it’s a you know solid
feeling it that’s another thing like
about that I don’t know I’m not gonna
hate on the aroma anymore
I just never gonna buy another aroma I
gotta be honest with you I mean it’s
like and I’ve had a lot of rice cookers
I mean it’s kind of like I had a
Wolfgang Puck one a bigger digital
Wolfgang Puck one that was a piece of
crap – I like my little Wolfgang Puck
one that I just put away actually
alright I think I know it’s first task
the first test that I’m gonna do with it
I’m gonna make rice krispie treats to
look for that video all right push
