Cuisinart Mandoline (CTG-00-MANG) Demo Video

this is the Cuisinart mandolin and
graphite let me show it to you here I’m
just gonna turn this around so you can
see this these are the legs these
actually go down and you’ll notice how
flat this is and this is great when
you’re gonna store the unit it also has
a safety cover right here which you flip
over for storing and that covers your
blades and all of your blades are stored
inside which I’m going to show you in a
minute this way you don’t have to worry
about any blades exposed and you store
it in your cabinet or drawer so let me
show you the rest of it I’m gonna put
the legs back up right like that so
that’s in the right position for your
cutting here is your handle which you’re
gonna grip on to as you use the unit
this is silicon so if your hands happen
to be a little bit wet you can still get
a really nice grip on that it also has
silicon on the bottom of the legs here
and that also helps to get a good grip
on your countertop so it doesn’t slide
around on the side here I’m going to
show you this is the where you choose
your thickness it goes from 1/16 all the
way up to 3/8 so on the bottom here it’s
1/16 and as you go upward it’s 3/8 and
you notice that this food platform is
what actually moves and that’s gonna
determine your thickness so I’m just
gonna set it on a quarter of an inch for
right now and the other thing I want to
show you is there’s this platform has
two levels one is called upper and the
other one is called lower and you just
adjust it by pulling back and down and
this is the position for your julienne
setting and what happens is if you take
one of the julienne blades out from here
this happens to be the small one and you
slide it in here that’s what gives you
access to doing julienne cuts and the
same thing you just change this platform
and it allows you to get different
thickness cuts I’m gonna put it on 1/4
so as if we remove this it’s going to
push it from there
and you just put it back in here and it
stores inside you just push it push it
all the way through so that it’s engaged
and now what we’re going to do is going
to move the platform so that we can do
straight cuts and waffle cuts so like I
said I have this set on a quarter of an
inch and you’re going to use your food
pusher and also your glove which comes
with the unit this is your cut-resistant
glove and it’s important to always use
this when you’re using your mandolin and
then the first thing I’m going to do is
straight cuts and this happens to be a
lemon we’re just going to push this down
on the lemon and these little sides here
you push these in and this helps you
guide the food as you’re using up the
food so what I’m gonna do is I’m just
going to push it forward nice and juicy
and then what I’m gonna do is I’m going
to show it to you so I got these
beautiful little cuts here so that’s the
straight cut then what I’m gonna do is
I’m just going to take this out and
rinse it really quickly so just well you
know I stopped for Minik to clean up the
mandolin and I also wipe the blade and
that’s really because I didn’t want the
lemon from the Meyer lemon to transfer
on to anything else but what I’m going
to show you now is I actually am going
to do some crinkle cuts so we have the
straight edge now we’re putting in the
crinkle cut edge which you can also use
for waffle cuts and I’m gonna do some
potatoes so what I’m gonna do is I’m
going to put the potato on this and I’m
gonna slide it now one of the things
that you can do to the help with slide
batters you can use a little bit of
olive oil or cooking oil you know and
when you’re starting first starting to
use your mandolin you know you might
need to do a little practice so you get
used to it but what I’m gonna do is I’m
gonna just pull this aside and I’m gonna
show you these beautiful beautiful
crinkle cuts that I did put those over
here
and I’m going to show you the next thing
that you can do with your mandolin I’m
just going to get a paper towel and just
wipe this down because that potato is a
little juicy and then I’m going to show
you how to use a julienne now for the
julienne you need to move this back
you’re going to actually take this blade
out flip it over slide it back in so
it’s on the straight cut and you’re
gonna take out one of your julienne
blades and you’re gonna mount it here so
what I’m going to show you how to do now
is Julianne potato so I’m just gonna
mount it into the pusher slide it down
the bar and I’m gonna show you what do
you get I’m just gonna put that over
here now mister take the glove off for a
second and show you the beautiful
beautiful julienne potatoes that I’ve I
did one of the nice things that you can
julienne too is you can julienne any
type vegetable you can do carrots and
not just potatoes but zucchini and even
cucumber and it’s a really nice way to
make a beautiful fresh salad for the
summer
let me just scoop this up and put this
over here the other thing that you can
julienne which I like to do is believe
it or not raw beets and if you get a
really nice thin julienne on it you can
actually make a beautiful salad maybe
with some walnuts or goat cheese or even
a feta cheese
I just want to I’m gonna remove this
julienne blade put it back in the front
this is one of the things I love about
this product is all of the blades store
inside I just want to show you the other
blades that come with it this is the
large julienne slide that back in this
here is the shredding with this mandolin
you get five cuts the other two are the
crinkle cut which you can use for a
crinkle cut and also to make waffle cuts
and then the actual flat blade I’m just
going to put that back in
and then like I mentioned to store it
you just basically pop this up flip it
over obviously after you’ve cleaned it
and you can put the legs down and then
store the unit either in your pantry or
your cabinet or you know on the
countertop if you decide to use it a lot
there’s so many great things that you
can use a mandolin for it has Cuisinart
food processor blade technology so it’s
very efficient you can do cucumbers or
carrots you can even slice up some
pepperoni shred some cheese or even do
some onion slices if you want to make
onion rings it’s a really versatile
product it’s easy to clean it’s easy to
store and it’s a lot of fun to use
