Cuisinart Prep 7 7 Cup Food Processor (DLC 2007N) Demo Video

hi I’m Mary Rogers and this is the
cuisinart prep seven food processor it
has a really nice shape in the front
it’s round it has touchpad controls
which feature on/off and pulse and
basically to use the on you just press
it and it’ll run continuously you shut
it off just by pressing the off button
for the pulse you just press it and hold
it and we usually say in increments of
one second or less so you just press and
hold and it automatically turns on and
off we recommend that you always use the
pulse function when you are just getting
started using a food processor because
you can really see how I’m chopped up or
mixed your food is instead of just
turning it on and losing control over
what you’re doing so it has a nice seven
cup work bowl has a removable wide mouth
feed tube and this is important
especially when you’re gonna be doing
things like slicing potatoes for a
gnawed rotten or I’m slicing Tomatoes
for a salad you basically can put in a
whole fruit and vegetable here so you’d
do much less pre prep before you get
started processing inside the large feed
tube as a small feed tube and this would
be used to slice and shred small items
or actually incorporate liquid while
you’re mixing the other thing that’s
nice about this is that has a small hole
in the bottom of it and a lot of people
miss this feature but it’s really great
for when you’re going to be doing any
kind of emulsifying so that means any
time you’re going to be adding an oil to
a vinegar or mixing in a lot of oil into
a recipe like we’re going to do later
we’re going to do a pesto you could
actually put the oil in here and what
will happen is it will slowly drizzle
into whatever you’re making and it’ll
make for a perfect result at the end so
let’s look at some of the accessories
that come with your food processor first
is your s chopping blade always pick it
up by the hub only and this blade is
used for things like mincing garlic
chopping onions chopping herbs
incorporating anything doing a puree if
you’re gonna puree soups and any basic
type of mixing say if you’re going to
make meatloaf or a meat mixture for
meatballs that’s what you would use next
is the slicing disk
and this actually is your stem adapter
but you always use with your slicing
disk it’s made out of stainless steel
it’s beautifully designed and it’s
perfectly balanced so that when you
actually are doing any type of slicing
and shredding and your food processor
it’ll come out perfectly every time to
put the stem adapter on you line up the
two arrows you press it down and turn it
always add the stem adapter with the
blade upside down on your countertop
we’re gonna take the lid off and I just
want to show you how to mount into the
food processor always hold it by the
outer rim and line up the two icons the
one on top of the blade and the top of
the stem and you just put this on twist
like that you remove this you put your
food in here and you’re ready to get
slicing and shredding so with that I’m
going to remove this and show you the
last few items that come with your food
processor there’s your dough blade this
is meant to be used with any type of
yeast base dough sweet dough or a pizza
dough or any type of bread dough that
you’re going to use and then if you’re
going to be doing any type of dough that
has three cups of flour or less then you
should use your s blade for that and a
lot of times that’ll be things like
maybe pie crusts you would use the other
blade instead the last couple items that
come with your food processor this is
really important this is your how-to DVD
you should watch this from start to
finish we show you lots of techniques
and even recipe demos it’ll show you how
to get the most out of your food
processor and lastly is your spatula has
a nice flat edge here and it’s meant to
rest against the flat edge of your work
Bowl so when you need to stop and scrape
down some ingredients that’s the side
that you use so that comes with it so
with that we’re gonna get ready to make
a pesto and we’re gonna use the chopping
blade for that so we pick it up by the
hub pop it in we’re gonna actually turn
the machine on and I’m going to show you
how you’re gonna use your soil feed tube
to chop up some ingredients first we’re
gonna put in the garlic
see how efficient that was at chopping
up and next is our Parmesan cheese
so some recipes call for you to taking
out the Parmesan cheese and reserving it
but I actually like to do it this way so
I’m going to leave it in there and next
we’re gonna put in our basil lots of
lots of fresh basil and you’re gonna see
how beautiful this pesto is going to
come out so let me just put that in
there the other thing is that anytime
you’re using a lot of liquid with your
food processor there’s also a liquid max
line on the side which you should follow
just to make sure that you don’t have
any spills or drips and now you know
like I said if you’re first getting
started you should use the pulse button
for control but I’m gonna use the on
button and then what I’m gonna do is I’m
gonna remember I told you to use this
for a multiplication I’m gonna fill this
up with the olive oil so I don’t have to
hold it myself and it’s gonna slowly
slowly drizzle into the basil and it’s
gonna incorporate I’m gonna turn it off
I’m gonna remove the lid and another the
neat thing is if you turn this upside
down it’s perfectly balanced so it keeps
your counter clean that’s a really nice
kind of hidden feature I’m just gonna
scrape down the sides really quickly
using the spatula just to make sure
everything is incorporated properly I’m
gonna add the last two ingredients these
are the pine nuts or Italians call them
pignoli nuts
Pino Lena and a little bit of salt not a
lot just a little bit and then what I’m
gonna do is going to put the lid back on
I’m gonna pulse it a few times and then
it’s gonna be finished just to get the
pine nuts incorporated I’m going to show
you one last little trick when it comes
to using your food processor you take it
off and there’s a little hole in the
bottom and what you can do is you can
actually stick your finger in there to
hold the blade in place so when you pour
out the ingredients the blade doesn’t
fall into the bowl on you so I’m just
gonna put the pesto in here so we have
it reserved so we can go and make our
pasta
and then we can make dinner with it
another little trick too is that once
you put this back on if you want to get
every last drop out of your food
processor you turn it on really quickly
turn it off
remove the lid again this time I’m going
to remove the blade and now it’s really
really easy to get the last little bits
out of your work Bowl and one thing I
didn’t mention earlier is that every
single one of the removable parts of
this food processor can go directly into
the dishwasher so it’s really really
simple and easy to clean up all the
parts after you’ve had a great day
creating in the kitchen so there you
have at the prep 7 7 cup food processor
